Turntables and other analogue equipment

August 14, 2010

After buying some new, to us, Martin Denny records at the Antique Fair we were fired up to plug in our turntable. My dad had given me this record player for about 15 years ago,  already somewhat dated at the time but still awesome. I had never successfully plugged it in for lack of proper stereo equipment. Luckily for me Ian had squirreled away a nakamichi amp from the 80s. It took a bit to get everything working together but they were meant to be. The hardest part was hooking them up to our street found stereo credenza. Finally after a few hours it all works, well only on one channel, but it’s better than nothing and you don’t really miss what you can’t hear. It’s so awesome to listen to these classic exotica albums as well as some of the old vinyl I’ve been packing around from apartment to apartment. Especially this clear purple vinyl 12″ from the Delta 72. It’s so rad!
