Surf's Up!

July 27, 2010

Well not really. Sadly we’ve had a crappy summer when it comes to surf at least here on the south shore. And what wave action we have had I’ve missed. Thankfully for the 3rd Annual Surf Film Festival I’ve managed to get a tiny bit of surf stoke this season.

Last Thursday some friends and I went to see what I consider to be the best film in the line-up. The legendary Innermost Limits of Pure Fun, a true classic, filmed by non other than the trippiest tube rider ever George Greenough. This film, shot in the 60s, documents the radical shift to the shortboard era including some awesome in-the-tube footage of George himself. Here’s a clip of the man in action.

The festival runs till the end of July so you still have a chance to catch some films. To see what’s showing check out the Academy’s website here.
